"So... what's your story?"
Hi, I'm Chelsea!
After graduating high school, I attended the Salon Professional Academy in Fargo, ND, and returned home after completing the cosmetology program. Shortly after I found myself purchasing the salon I was working for and opened "Primped and Polished" in June of 2014.
Fast forward to 2021, I rebranded as HLC Studio (HLC=Hair Lady Chelsea) and continued to offer my cosmetology services. After two years of chronic stress through "The Covid Era" [as i call it] I experienced extreme burnout and lost my sense of self. As a desperate reach for my own personal growth, I plunged myself into the Wellness Inventory Program and became a Certified Wellness Inventory Coach, then went on to become a NBC-HWC. I have also completed Mindful Leader's 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course.
These days HLC stands for Holistic Lifestyle & Cosmetology. I am currently pausing my 1-on-1 holistic coaching practice as I am once again a student, studying Ayurvedic Medicine through the California College of Ayurveda. Alongside my studies and cosmetology practice, I am excited to be working on a project to bring all of my resources together to curate a unique group experience focusing on holistic lifestyle.
Outside of the salon and coaching, I am passionate about studying wellness and I enjoy spending as much time as possible outdoors with my family and 3 dogs Loki, Lovie, and Jack. I find the mundane to be exhilarating and I am on the pursuit to live every ounce of life with the fullest appreciation.
What is Holistic Life Coaching?
Coaches partner with clients interested in making lasting changes that align with the client's values, promote the client's health and wellness, which therefore, enhance the client's holographic well-being. Coaching is client-centered, which means you decide your actions and where you want to go. The client remains the expert of their own life. Coaches believe in their client's abilities to make changes and hold them in unconditional positive regard. Coaches maintain a space that is respectful and non-judgmental.
Coaches focus on setting goals, creating outcomes, and managing personal change with the client. The coaching relationship puts emphasis on actions, accountability, and following through. Coaches help by providing supportive frameworks based on discoveries/awarenesses made by the client, and it is assumed that the client is capable of actually generating their own solutions. Coaching focuses on the present time and moving forward. Coaches use their professional skillset to help clients process and grow.
Coaches do NOT give unsolicited advice, counsel, diagnose, or prescribe. Coaches do NOT provide psychological therapeutic interventions. Coaching is NOT always linear and does NOT have a set curriculum. Objectives are set by the client. Coaching does NOT focus on what skills/behaviors the client executes poorly or incorrect. Coaching focuses on the client's strengths and capabilities in relation to identifying opportunities for growth. Coaches do NOT promote shame/blame and help clients identify a positive disposition when neccessary/possible.
Ultimately the power in the coaching relationship lies within the client. It is up to the client to re-empower themselves and take action.
I am formally trained in and use a HOLISTIC approach in my coaching sessions. This means we look at your interconnected, whole-person well-being. Mind, Body, Spirit.
